Deep Learning meets Virtual Reality: How to Step inside a Gas Turbine:

In our ongoing search for new data sets for improving innovative algorithms, we found some interesting research aspects at our Siemens’ Power Generation Services Division, which supplied us with the sensor data and operational records of a state-of-the-art Siemens gas turbine. After donning virtual reality goggles, we were able to step into a virtual hall that houses a turbine’s virtual twin. There, sensor data that is supplied by a computing cloud depicts the turbine’s operating status. Our research focus is set on using the simulation environment for the task of data generation improving deep learning-based object segmentation and identification.
